日本語では、「荒野の果てに」と「天の御使いの」、2つのタイトルありますが同じ曲です。
英語は「Angels We Have Heard On High」の意味は、われら天に天使の声を聴く。
歌詞の内容は、聖書のルカの福音書に書かれたイエスキリストの生誕地のベツレヘム郊外で、羊飼いたちが、大勢の天使たちがイエスの誕生を歌い賛美している様子のお話です。ルカの福音書よると、「グロリアインエクセルシスデオ」グロリア『栄光』デオ『神』インエクセルシス『高いところ』は、このお話の中で天使が歌った歌の最初の部分です。

We hear the voice of angels in heaven.
The lyrics are about shepherds on the outskirts of Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, as described in the Gospel of Luke in the Bible, where the angels are singing and praising the birth of Jesus.

Gloria 'glory' deo 'God' in Excelsis 'high place' is the first part of the song sung by the angels in this story.
